John Schwab Recording
Our Studios

John Schwab Recording features some of the best recording equipment in Ohio! Below is just a taste of the great gear that awaits you in our studios. You can also take a virtual tour of the studios here!

General information

Five separate rooms are available in over 2,500 square feet of studio space! The main studio offers a rich, warm sound that is equally suited for a band trying to capture that studio gloss or going for a big "live" sound.

All of our studios are wired using top of the line Mogami cables, ensuring that your signal is recorded as clean and pure as possible. Mogami is the industry standard in high quality, pure, audio cabling. Our studios are fully acoustically treated and optimized recording.

All of our clients are also able to use Hearback headphone systems by Hear Technologies. The Hearback system lets each player dial in their own individual monitoring mix, making sure you hear what’s most important when recording. No more yelling at the guitarist to turn down or asking for more vocals! Now you can dial in the mix YOU need to play your best while recording.

Our Pro Tools systems also include top plugins bundles from Waves, McDSP, Digidesign, Antares Audio Technologies, Bomb Factory, Line 6 and more!

Our Studios are also outfitted with a wide variety of vintage preamps, compressors, EQ’s and processors from industry leaders like Urei, Universal Audio, Manley, Drawmer, Avalon, Eventide, Presonus, JBL and DBX.

The studios' microphone closet features new and vintage mics from top manufactures like Neumann, Shure, Sennheiser, Coles, AKG, Audio Technica, Electro Voice and more!

Studio A features a 32 channel Raindirk Symphony console (one of only six like it in the country!) that features an incredibly low noise floor. Our console's pre-amps were even taken from a vintage console used at the historic BBC Studios in London!

Studio A also has an Otari MTR-90 24 track, analog 2” tape machine! This particular model of tape machine has been an industry standard for many years, know for its ability to capture warm, tape saturated tones, all while being a solid workhorse.

Instruments

John Schwab Recording also has a variety of instruments available for clients, including our famous 9’ Estonia Concert Grand Piano.

The Estonia Concert Grand Piano

Estonia’s are known for their amazing sounds, rivaling that of legendary Steinways (in fact we used to have a Steinway before our Estonia!). The Columbus Dispatch even printed a story recently about the quality of these fine instruments.

“It doesn’t get any better,” said Paul Graves, chief executive officer of Graves Piano & Organ Co. when discussing Estonia pianos. “Estonia pianos have a memorable tone, and hearing them is just like the first time you heard Frank Sinatra sing,” he said. “There are lots of fine instruments, and all have a unique characteristics, but Estonia has one of those memorable ‘voices’ you never forget.
