About Us

John Schwab Recording Studio offers a special blend of modern technology and rustic comfort, making it one of the most popular studios in central Ohio. Whether you play rock or jazz, country or metal, hip-hop or folk, we are uniquely qualified to help you best capture "that sound" on your next project.

Founded in 1991 by John Schwab (of McGuffey Lane fame), the studio has been host to a variety of local, regional and national artists (Kiss,  Styx,  Gavin DeGraw, Neil Zaza and many, many more). From the full size Estonia grand piano to the large selection of classic microphones, these bands have access to some of the finest equipment available between Chicago and New York City.

Head Engineer Colin Coffey attended two of the world's top schools for the recording arts; Full Sail and The Recording Workshop. In addition to his audio background, Colin recieved his B.A. from Capital University where he also studied music and business.

Five separate rooms in over 2,500 square feet of studio are available! The main studio offers a rich, warm sound that is equally suited for a band trying to capture that studio gloss or going for a big "live" sound. The Studio is fully equiped with Pro Tools HD and a 24 track 2" analog tape machine bringing the best of modern technology and warm vintage sounds in to meet with the studio's collection of vintage compressors, microphones, preamps and more.

All this is found in the peaceful middle of nowhere, on the outskirts of Columbus' southeast side. Situated on 15 acres of wooded land, the location allows musicians to concentrate on their project, away from distractions.

With its accommodating and knowledgeable staff, high-tech equipment, and comfortable setting, John Schwab Recording Studios is the place for the discerning musician. Whether you want to record to analog or digital, make it rock or let it swing, bring the twang or slam it hard-core, this is the place for you!
